UMKC settles for 0-0 draw with Rockhurst in Season Opener
August 19, 2011
(Kansas City, Mo.) - After a hard tough fought battle with the Division II Rockhurst Hawks, the UMKC's women's soccer team began their season with a 0-0tie Friday night at Durwood Soccer Stadium and Recreation Field.
The 'Roos (0-0-1) failed to give head coach Chris Cissell his first win as the new coach at UMKC, but this is first time the program in its three year existence it's not under .500.
Throughout the game, UMKC struggled offensively by only notching eight shots compared to 14 for Rockhurst. However, defensively, goalkeeper Jami Finnell kept the Hawks at bay by collecting nine critical saves.
Up next for the 'Roos is Youngstown State, who is coming off a 4-0 loss to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville earlier in the day.
