Undermanned Seton Hall Men’s Soccer Team Earns 1-0 Win at Army
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Playing without two starters and down a man for much of the second half, the Seton Hall men’s soccer team picked up a 1-0 victory at Army on Monday night. The triumph broke a 10-game winless streak for the Pirates, dating back to last season, and evened their record to 1-1-1.
Junior Adriano Gabriele (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored on a penalty shot for the second straight game to give the Hall its lone goal in the 33rd minute.
Sophomore Anthony Reichwaldt (Lincoln, Neb.) was tested early and often in goal, facing 20 shots and making seven saves to earn his first career victory and shutout in a Pirate uniform.
In the second half, freshman Konrad Plewa (Wallington, N.J.) was given a red card in the 54th minute, leaving Seton Hall with 10 players for the remainder of the game. The Pirates were without senior center back Joe Baker (Lincoln, Neb.) and freshman midfielder Kai Greene (South Orange, N.J.) after both were shown two cautions in the Delaware game last week.
SHU had 12 shots, with three on goal. Sophomore Max Garcia (Jersey City, N.J.) was active once again, firing six shots with one on target.
The Pirates will face Boston University on Friday, September 9, at 7:00 p.m.
