Vanderbilt Unveils 2021 Spring Schedule
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Set for the first competitive spring soccer season in program history, Vanderbilt announced its 2021 schedule Thursday that features two exhibitions and four regular-season games before moving on to the NCAA Tournament in April.
“Our spring season gives us a progressive buildup into the NCAA Tournament in April,” said head coach Darren Ambrose. “Having a couple of scrimmages gives us time to fine-tune things and try different lineups with our goal to be in peak form in late March and April. We have competitive games that will give us the opportunity to evaluate our progress and I am just excited to see this group play again after our success in the fall.”
The regular season features three home matches against Kennesaw State, Lipscomb and Memphis before closing the slate with a trip to one of the ACC’s top programs in Duke.
Prior to the season, Vanderbilt will return to form with a pair of exhibition games. The first comes Feb. 21 on the road at Middle Tennessee State before hosting DePaul on Feb. 27.
After the season, Vanderbilt will learn its postseason fate with the NCAA Selection Show currently scheduled for April 18. The Commodores have the SEC’s automatic bid to this year’s NCAA Tournament thanks to its SEC title in November when it beat No. 2 seed Tennessee, No. 3 seed Texas A&M and No. 1 seed Arkansas in consecutive games.
