ATLANTA--Georgia State senior Alex Vivanco was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week this week after he scored three goals in Georgia State's final two matches of the 2012 regular-season.

Vivanco's goal-scoring surge began on Nov. 1 in GSU's 2-1 win in overtime vs. George Mason. He took advantage of a turnover deep in the offensive third before rifling home a low shot at the 18:23 mark to tie the match at one. He also provided the game-winning tally in overtime after he headed in a rebound off a shot by redshirt junior Caleb Kernan.

Vivanco then gave Georgia State a late one-goal lead when he chipped in a low cross from sophomore Peter Kurowski against Stetson on Sunday. Vivanco's goal at the 80:40 mark was his team-high ninth goal of the season.

The native of Cumming, Ga., Vivanco is tied for 44^th in the nation with his nine total goals this season. He is also 57^th in goals per game (0.5), tied for 72^nd in total points (19) and 98^th in points per game (1.06). This is the second CAA weekly honor this season for Vivanco, who also earned the honor on Aug. 27.

Georgia State, led by third-year head coach Brett Surrency, wrapped up its 2012 regular-season schedule with a 2-1 win in overtime vs. Stetson on Sunday. Vivanco was one of eight seniors honored prior to the match as part of Senior Day ceremonies. The Panthers now head into their offseason and begin preparations for their spring exhibition schedule.
