Ask Ekeland, Duquesne vs. Wright State

Ask and you shall recieve. With everyone paused at what may be a free kick, Ekeland is thinking at a different level. Then he has the skill to execute a perfectly placed shot from 50 yards to beat a goalkeeper who is not even that far off his line. And if Referees are going to get a lot of stick for mistakes, they deserve praise when they do well, so shoutout to this Official for the excellent decision to play advantage.

Mark Fisher, Stanford vs. California

There were a few bicycle kicks this season, but it does not get better than Fisher. The combination of executing in a crowded box, plus a game-winner with 90 seconds left on Senior night, makes this a prime candidate for goal of the year.

Damien Barker John, Louisville vs. Pittsburgh

How is this effort with 5 minutes left in overtime to essentially put an ACC tournament game to bed? Take a bow, Barker John. Not many would have spotted the keeper off his line, let alone have the technique to strike a shot from beyond halfway that doesn’t hit the ground until it is in the back of the net.

Ethan O’Brien, Notre Dame vs. Duke

Every player has dreamed of hitting that perfect volley as the ball rebounds outside of the 18, but very few have actually pulled it off. Up steps O’Brien with one of the best strikes you will ever see with no bounce and straight into the upper 90.

Max Rogers, Yale vs. Bryant

You are in hostile territory for the first round of the NCAA tournament as your team is the lower seed against a team that has lost just once all year, and you have the ball near half with two minutes remaining. What do you do? 99.99% of players take a safe option in that scenario, but not Rogers. As they say, the rest is history.

Yutaro Tsukada, West Virginia vs. Vermont

Lionel Messi nearly won a Ballon d’Or for a goal just like this. The keeper rushes out, slightly scoop the ball over him, and then calmly slot your shot into the back of the net. Only the special players can make it seem like they slow time down.
