Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team will wrap up its home schedule Sunday when it hosts Mount St. Mary's at Hameline Field in a 1:00 p.m. matchup. Prior to the start of the match, the program's senior class will be honored in a brief on-field ceremony.

Senior Day:

Prior to the start of Sunday's match, the Wagner College women's soccer program will recognize its five-member senior class:
- Maria D'Amico, Nicole Doherty, Kristen Bischoff, Katie Viscardi and Peyton Beck.

Last Time Out: vs. Delaware State (October 19, 2018 | Won, 2-1):

The Wagner College women's soccer team staged a come-from-behind rally, scoring a pair of goals three minutes apart, which included the game-winner off the foot of junior captain, Maria Nunez in the 71st minute, as the Seahawks defeated Delaware State, 2-1, on Friday evening at Hameline Field.
With the win, the Green & White picked up its third win of the season and in the process, claimed the first home win in the tenure of second-year head coach, Phil Casella.
Following a scoreless first half, in which Wagner outshot the Hornets, 10-5, it was the visitors who fired the opening salvo in the match. In the 50th minute, Jade Jamison located Alyssa Coustenis, who booted the ball past junior goalkeeper, Delaney Beck, to the back left post in giving the Hornets a 1-0 lead.
Wagner rebounded and seized the momentum for the remainder of the match. In the 62nd minute, Nunez fired a shot that was left of the target. The Green & White continued to march forward and was rewarded in the 68th minute.
Sophomore Le'la Allen was able to take the ball and go towards her left before cutting back into the middle of the field and firing a left-footed shot that found its way inside the post, tying the match at 1-1.
Wasting little time, Wagner was again on the offensive and created another scoring chance, which proved to be the game-winner.
Freshman Luisa Barone was able to run down the loose ball on the far right side and send the ball into the box. Her cross was first touched by Hornet defender until sophomore Mya Donnelly was able to secure the ball and thread the ball to Nunez, who beat DSU's Leslie Fazio in giving Wagner a 2-1 lead.

Wagner – Mount St. Mary's Series History:

Sunday's contest between the Seahawks and the Mountaineers marks the 26th all-time meeting between the two conference foes with Mount St. Mary's holding a slim 13-12-0 advantage in the head-to-head series.
Last season, Wagner dropped a 2-0 decision in Emmitsburg, MD. In that contest, Maria Nunez led the way with three shots. Both goalkeepers, Delaney Beck and Katie Viscardi saw action in the match, with Viscardi recording four saves and Beck stopping one chance.
Over the last five meetings between the two schools, Wagner is 3-2-0, and are 4-1 in their last five home meetings against the Mountaineers, last being defeated on October 22, 2010, a 2-1 overtime victory for the Mount.

Wagner vs. Northeast Conference:

Sunday's contest with Mount St. Mary's marks the 171st all-time Northeast Conference (NEC) match the Seahawks will play.
The most conference victories the Green & White has had in a single season is five, set back in 2014 when Wagner finished second in the league with a 5-1-2 conference mark and a 9-7-3 overall record en route to earning the No. 2 seed in the NEC Tournament.

Maria, Maria:

An instrumental part of the Seahawk offense this season, junior captain Maria Nunez continued her scoring prowess, as she scored what turned out to be the game-winner in Friday's non-conference finale at home against the Delaware State University Hornets.
For the East Greenwich, RI native, she has a team-leading five goals, which, as of 10/19/18, ranks sixth in the Northeast Conference (NEC).
Additionally, it marks the third straight match that Nunez has scored a goal, after tallying scores at Sacred Heart, at home against Fairleigh Dickinson and Delaware State.
The five goals for Nunez is currently tied for the 12th highest-goal output in a single season in Wagner history, tying her with former Seahawks Megan Fritz (2016), Sydney McCarthy (2013), Briana Vassallo (2008) and Tanya Wowk (1999).

Wagner Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award:

The United Soccer Coaches announced on Monday the Team Academic Award winners at the collegiate levels to recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year.
The Wagner College women's soccer team was acknowledged as one of 507 women's programs to have earned the Team Academic Award.
This marked the sixth time that the Seahawks program earned this honor (2007, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018).
Wagner finished the 2017-18 season with a 3.58 cumulative team GPA

Viscardi & Beck Continue To Ascend Up The All-Time Saves List:

Wagner's two goalkeepers, senior Katie Viscardi and junior Delaney Beck, continue to ascend on the all-time career saves list her on Grymes Hill.
For Viscardi, she currently has amasses 182 saves in goal for the Seahawks, which ranks fifth on the all-time list.
Beck, who has played the last two seasons for the Green & White since transferring from Campbell University, has stopped a total of 104 saves, which is now the seventh-highest total in Seahawk history.

Scouting The Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers:

Predicted to finish ninth the preseason NEC Coaches' Poll, the Mountaineers enter Sunday's contest with a 3-8-3 overall record and are currently in fifth place in the league standings with eight points at 2-2-2.
Mount St. Mary's is 2-21 in their last five matches despite being shutout by Central Connecticut, 4-0, on Friday night in New Britain, CT.
Maddie Tchou and Kayla Hughes are the leading goal scorers for the Mount with four goals apiece while Tchou leads with nine points (4g, 1a).
Jenna West has a team-high two assists.
In goal, Maggie Barron has seen the majority of action, starting in ten matches while giving up 12 goals (second fewest in the NEC) while making 43 saves.
