Wagner Releases 2019 Season Schedule
Staten Island, NY – Third-year Wagner head women's soccer coach Phil Casella has announced the Seahawks' 2019 schedule, a 18-game slate that includes nine home matches at Hameline Field.
"We have put together a very competitive non-conference schedule that will ultimately prepare us for Northeast Conference (NEC) play," commented Casella. "Last year, we had some good moments and during our spring campaign I saw what this team is capable of. We will build upon those moments, as the 2019 roster is filled with experienced upperclassmen, complemented by the addition of a talented incoming class, who will come in and blend into our system. I believe this is a recipe for a very special season."

The Green & White then return home for a trio of home contests - against Delaware State (Aug. 25), Fairfield (Aug. 30) and Rhode Island (Sept. 1).
Over a week span, Wagner will log its share of miles as the squad flies cross-country, to the San Francisco Bay Area, squaring off against West Coast Conference (WCC) member, Saint Mary's College (Sept. 8), in Moranga, CA.
Following its West Coast excursion, the Green & White will return to the Empire State, commencing with a nearly 200-mile trek north to meet Binghamton (Sept. 12) before returning to Grymes Hill in to host Iona (Sept. 15). Wagner will then head to the City of Brotherly Love for a contest at Temple (Sept. 18).
League action kicks off when the Seahawks travel to first-year program, St. Francis Brooklyn (Sept. 22), and concludes the month of September with a home tilt against Sacred Heart (Sept. 27).
"Every game is a battle," coach Casella stated. "The league has gotten a little harder now with the additions of St. Francis Brooklyn and Merrimack, both programs looking to make an impact in their first season of competition. The journey to the NEC playoffs is not easy, with only the top four making the postseason. Adding two more teams to the mix will make every NEC match even more important."
The Green & White begin October by welcoming Robert Morris (Oct. 4) and Saint Francis U (Oct. 6) for a pair of home league matches at Hameline Field before embarking on a two-game road trip. The first of these matchups comes at defending league-champions Central Connecticut (Oct. 11), before concluding with a voyage at Bryant (Oct. 13).
The final home conference match of the 2019 season for the Seahawks pits the newly-merged, Long Island University Sharks, against Wagner (Oct. 20) as the LIU Brooklyn and LIU Post campuses are now combined under one team moniker.
Wagner commences its final road trip of the season when the Seahawks travel to Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 26) and Fairleigh Dickinson (Oct. 31).
The regular season finale is set for November 3 when Wagner hosts Merrimack, an athletic program transitioning into the NEC from Division II (Northeast-10 Conference [NE-10]). Merrimack will be incorporated as fully as possible into NEC athletic schedules beginning with the 2019-20 season.
During its reclassification, Merrimack compete in NEC championships in NCAA non-automatic qualifier sports (cross country, swimming and diving, and indoor and outdoor track and field) only. The Warriors's women's soccer team finished the 2018 season with an 8-7-2 overall record and were 5-7-2 in NE-10 play.
