Wake Forest women announce spring schedule
March 21, 2012
The Wake Forest women’s soccer team will play spring matches against Virginia, Tennessee and Richmond, in addition to competing in the ACC Spring Tournament, head coach Tony da Luz announced today.
The Demon Deacons, who return all 11 starters from last fall’s College Cup squad, will open spring competition on March 31 with the ACC Spring Tournament, which will be held at the BB&T Soccer Complex in Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest will then travel to Virginia on April 14 to face the Cavaliers, which finished 2011 ranked in the top 10, along with Richmond, which took second place in the Atlantic 10 with a 13-5-3 overall record.
The Deacons’ lone home contest of the spring comes on April 21, when they host Tennessee at 3 p.m. at Spry Stadium. The Volunteers finished in second place in the SEC East in 2011 and are under the direction of new head coach Brian Pensky, who formerly held the same position at Maryland.
