Warhawk Men Lose at Wartburg
Despite outshooting their opponent 19-11, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team lost to Wartburg College 3-0 Saturday night in Waverly, Iowa to snap a three-game winning streak and fall to 4-4-1.
All three Knight goals came in the first half, and despite their second half efforts, the Warhawks could not break onto the scoreboard.
UW-W tallied ten second-half shots, three that were on goal but saved by Paul Koebke Barsic.
Henry Raymonds (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) had the first opportunity in the 59th minute but was turned away.
Senior captains Kyle Clancy (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and Jack Wirth (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) placed shots on net in the 78th minute and 83rd minutes, but both were stopped by Koebke Barsic.
Toney Anderson (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) started the match in goal before giving way to Jake King(McHenry, Ill./McHenry West) in the second half. King finished with three saves.
This was the third consecutive road game for the Warhawks who will wrap up their four-game road trip on Saturday with a match at Alma College in Alma, Michigan at 3 p.m. UW-W will then return home for eight straight matches.
