Warhawks Drop 1-0 Decision to Loras in OT
Loras scored in the fourth minute of the first overtime to defeat the UW-Whitewater women's soccer team 1-0 Wednesday in Dubuque, Iowa to claim the "Hawk Cup" for the second straight year. The loss drops the Warhawks to 1-3-0 this season while the Duhawks improve to 3-3-0.
The Warhawks' Alyssa Chamberlain (DePere/DePere) fired off the only two shots in the game for UW-W. Her first shot, in the 72nd minute, sailed wide, and her second, in the 80th minute, was blocked.
Conversely, Loras peppered UW-W goalkeeper Jordan Myers (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley) with twenty shots, ten on goal. Myers racked up nine saves and kept the Warhawks in the game throughout regulation.
In the 94th minute of the game Loras' Katie Truesdale found the back of the net on a shot from 18 yards out. The ball went through the upper corner of the goal just out of Myers' reach.
The Warhawks will look to get back on track when they travel to UW-Eau Claire on September 15 for their opening match in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The match is slated to begin at 3 pm.
