Warriors Start WHAC Play with 3-1 Win at Concordia

Ann Arbor, MI – The Indiana Tech men’s soccer team kicked off Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Saturday at Concordia University. The Warriors grabbed an early lead and held on for a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals. With the win, Tech improves to 8-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference while Concordia dropped to 1-7-1 overall and 0-1 in the WHAC.
Senior Sam Terman (Mason, MI/Mason) put the Warriors on top with his fifth goal of the season in the 13th minute with an assist from Mark Baptist (Essex, England/South East Essex). Tech struck again in the 29th minute to go up 2-0. This time it was senior Elliott Everson (Horsmonden, England/Hayesbrook) assisted by Bryce Collier and Baptist.
The Warriors held their lead into the second half until Concordia found the back of the net at the 51:00 minute mark to trim the deficit to just one. However, a late goal by Collier in the 84th minute put the game away.
Freshman keeper Matthew Zaikos (Markham, Ontario, Canada) made two saves in the match and Everson finished the game with a goal on four shots and added his eighth assist of the year.
The Warriors return to action on October 8 when they host Madonna University at 2:30 p.m.
