The pressure-packed stretch also known as the NCAA tournament is officially here, and with each loss, a season comes to a crashing halt.

Thanks in part to some unfortunate scheduling, a handful of teams in this week's Top 25 saw their season end. No. 14 West Virginia drew 0-0 against No. 25 Georgetown, but the Hoyas managed to edge the Mountaineers on penalty kicks, winning 4-3 after the statelmate.

A cruel twist of fate meant No. 15 DePaul had to deal with No. 8 Wisconsin the opening weekend tournament, and the Badgers were in fine form in snowy conditions, winning 2-0 thanks to a pair of Cara Walls goals.

Outside of the Mountaineers' loss, all the other NCAA seeds survived, though there were some scares. No. 3 Stanford found itself down 2-0 against Cal State Fullerton, but roared back through the offensive exploits of Taylor Uhl and Chioma Ubogagu, who combined for five goals to turn the tables and win 5-2.
