Women's Soccer Drops First Road Match of the Season at Toledo
TOLEDO, OH - The Buffalo women's soccer team lost 2-0 Sunday afternoon on the road against Toledo (9-5-2, 7-0-1 MAC). The Bulls (9-4-3, 2-3-3 MAC) were stymied by the Rockets defense and managed only four total shots for the game. The road loss was the team's first this season.
The Rockets scored first in the 15th minute after earning a corner kick, then added a second goal just over two minutes into the second half. Ainsley Wheldon made four saves in the loss. Taylor Thompson took two shots while Courtney Mannand Aubrey Stahl each attempted a shot.
With only three games remaining in the season, the Bulls will control its own destiny whether or not it will make the Mid-American Conference tournament for the first time since 2003 as the final three games will be the three teams surrounding the Bulls in the conference standings. Next Friday the team will be on the road at Ohio at 3 pm before a Sunday game against current East Division leader Akron at UB Stadium for a noon kickoff. Then on Thursday, Oct. 27, Kent State will come to Buffalo to close out the regular season.
