NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - The Niagara women's soccer team extended its winning streak to three games after downing the Robert Morris Colonials, 2-0 at Niagara Field on Sunday afternoon.  

The Purple Eagles (4-3-0) are now 12-3-1 all-time against the Colonials (0-8-1) as junior defender Danielle Kennedy and freshman Maria Siegrist-Gabas each tallied a goal for Niagara to come away with its second victory in the 2012 NU Fall Classic.  

"We felt that overall we didn't play our best soccer today," head coach Peter Veltri said.  "For some reason we struggled a little bit in making that right pass or right play, but overall I told the girls that when you don't play well and you still win, you have to take something positive out of it.  We won both games at home this weekend and won three games in a row so we're going to take out a lot of the positives and move forward."  

Kennedy gave the Purple Eagles a 1-0 lead with less than 12 minutes played in the contest.  A cornerkick from freshman Kori Thorne was picked up in the box by Kennedy who ripped one past Colonials goalkeeper Becky Schoenecker for her second tally of the season. 

Siegrist-Gabas doubled Niagara’s lead at the 42nd mark with a 23-yard rocket that nipped the bottom of the post before sneaking in for her first collegiate goal. 

The Purple Eagles wrapped up the opening half with a 9-4 shot advantage, while also holding a four to two advantage in cornerkicks.  

Robert Morris tested the home team in the second 45 minutes of play, outshooting Niagara by a slim 8-7 margin, but senior goalkeeper Amanda Taylor came up big for Niagara, stopping three breakaway opportunities by RMU.   

Rookie goalkeeper Claire Feiertag made two saves en route to her fourth win and third shutout of the season, while Taylor made four saves to finish the game for Niagara.  

The Purple Eagles return to action next Friday, Sept. 21 when Niagara battles the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at 5 p.m.
