Women's soccer wins third straight; beats Bard 2-1
ANNONDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY -- The RIT women's soccer team won their third straight with a 2-1 overtime win over Bard College (3-10-0, 0-5-0 LL) in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Sierra Kiss (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit) scored in the 99th minute to improve the Tigers record to 7-7-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the Liberty League.
Kiss and Rachael Bromson (Suffield, CT/Suffield) each scored goals for RIT, while Kimi Sisti (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) added an assist. Senior Ashley Valenti (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) picked up her sixth win of the season allowing one goal and making two saves.
The Tigers outshot Bard 13-6 and had six corner kicks to just two for the Raptors. She turned and hit a one-timer from just outside the penalty area, and the bending shot got up in the wind and tucked just inside the far post to tie the game at 1-1.
It didn't take long for the Tigers to get on the board, as Bromson tallied her ninth goal of the season in the 2nd minute on an assist from Sisti. Sisti sent a nice ball into the box that Bromson one-touched over the Bard keeper Amy Strawbridge.
Bard equalized in the 28th minute on a goal by Cosie Anduja.
Kiss tallied the game-winner in the 99th minute, scoring off a rebound on her own shot inside the Bard panelty box. It was her second goal of the season and first game-winner of the year.
RIT is off until next Saturday, Oct. 22 when the Tigers host St. Lawrence University at 2 pm on RIT Field.
