Yo! Gabba Gabba; Terriers Extend Winning Streak; Defeat Robert Morris 1-0
Brooklyn, New York --- Sophomore Gabriel Bagot scored the lone goal in the 11th minute as the St. Francis men’s soccer team defeated Northeast Conference member Robert Morris University, 1-0, on a chilly Friday evening at Aviator Field.
With the win, St. Francis (8-2-1, 3-0-0 NEC) continues to roll with an eight-game winning streak, that ties the 2008 squad for most consecutive wins under head coach Tom Giovatto. Robert Morris (4-7-1, 0-5-0 NEC) will continue their New York road trip and take on Long Island University on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Terriers will also be in action on Sunday when they host Saint Francis University, who defeated LIU, 1-0, on Friday.
“I’m Very happy with the performance today, said Giovatto.” We came into today’s game and defended well and played a complete match from start-to-finish.”
The lone tally of the contest came as the fog rolled onto the field, as senior Jonas Pantelidis sent a direct pass to junior Adam Maabdi inside the box and followed through with a touch-pass to Bagot for the marker.
The Terriers outshot the Colonials, 20-8, and dominated the contest from start to finish. Junior netminder Tyler Clarhaut was needed sparingly, but made two saves for his sixth shutout of the season.
