HS: Fall SIMA FAB 50, Aug. 25
A tie by an Ohio girls power, and losses by a pair of Missouri boys preseason favorites led to a slight shakeup in the first of the weekly SIMA FAB 50 fall soccer rankings for 2015.
Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) was held to a tie last week, which caused the team to drop from its No. 4 position. That result now puts more emphasis on action in New Jersey in the next few weeks as the teams currently ranked No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 will have key matches in that state. No. 1 Maria Carrillo (Santa Rosa, Calif.) will travel to New Jersey to take on No. 2 Immaculate Heart Academy (Township of Washington) and No. 4 Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.). Three weeks later, No. 3 [McDonogh md-w] (Owings Mills, Md.) will take on No. 2 Immaculate Heart. If any of those teams come out of those matchups with perfect records, it likely will hold the No. 1 ranking.
On the boys side, Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.) and Rockhurst Jesuit (Kansas City, Mo.) lost in the opening week, allowing others to move up. St. Louis University High (St. Louis, Mo.) vaulted to No. 9 with its win over Chaminade. The big mover on the boys side is St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio), which moved up to No. 4 after a one-sided win over perennially strong St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio).
