HS: Fall state, region rankings, Oct. 19
Bismarck Century (Bismarck, N.D.) boys and Jackson Prep (Jackson, Miss.) girls claimed surprise state titles last week as the second and third states to complete fall-season play this year.
Century had a five-loss regular season and upset a former state No. 1-ranked team en route to its title. Jackson Prep, meanwhile, after two losses to rival Jackson Academy (Jackson, Miss.) during the regular season, won the finale for the program's 14th crown.
Overall, it was a great week for the favorites. The 14 region No. 1s from the previous week went a combined 27-0 to retain those positions for yet another week.
