HS: Spring, Winter FAB 50s, April 3
The week of truth has arrived in both Texas and for spring-playing states.
Two rounds of Texas postseason play will be contested this week, and by Saturday, the Texas 6A and 5A fields will be narrowed to the remaining 16 teams. Since the pre-determined playoff structure pits certain districts against each other, there will be FAB 50 clashes starting with Monday and Tuesday's "Area" round (or second round of postseason play). Some of the key second-round contests include: McKinney Boyd vs. Duncanville, Grand Prairie vs. Flower Mound and San Antonio rivals [Reagan tx-m] vs. Clark in boys soccer; undefeated Houston Memorial against defending state champion Hendrickson and Marcus vs. San Angelo Central in girls soccer.
In spring soccer, this week's focus will be on the Southern Coast Cup in Foley, Ala., where boys FAB 50 No. 1 Wando (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) aims to continue its perfect season. The four-day event features 13 current or recent FAB 50-ranked boys and girls teams and another six regionally ranked programs. The Southern Coast Cup is the second of the 2018 High School Cup series.
The usually strong Palmetto Cup in South Carolina also takes place this week, although the 2018 field is not as strong as recent years, especially since Wando opted for the Southern Coast Cup. There is a girls division this year in the Palmetto Cup. In Alabama, the annual Southern Soccer Challenge will be contested at Huntsville High School on Friday and Saturday and features teams from Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

GIRLS: Broken Arrow (Okla.). Broken Arrow's nine-spot jump was not the largest this week, but perhaps the most significant as this one-time state power is back in the FAB 50 Top 25 for the first time in at least a decade.
