HS: State, region rankings, April 23
After thousands of matches played among hundreds of schools, the Texas champions ended up as a collection of Houston and Dallas squads.
Alief Elsik (Texas) boys and Houston Memorial (Texas) girls capped undefeated seasons to win their respective Class 6A state titles, marking the first Houston 6A sweep. In Class 5A, Wakeland swept the boys and girls titles, holding the banner for the Dallas MetroPlex. Elsik and Memorial close out the season ranked No. 1 in Texas.
It was a rather calm week in spring soccer action as the only state No. 1 changes occurred in girls soccer in Alaska, Nebraska and Wyoming.
