HS: State, Region rankings, Oct. 3
The arrival of October also means playoff time.
The fist state titles for the fall high school season will be played this week in South Dakota. The limited Mississippi fall girls scene, and the North Dakota boys titles will be soon to follow, as well.
This past week saw quite a shakeup among top boys teams, while the girls seem to be hitting their stride.
BOYS
[Christian Brothers nj-m] (N.J.), Nauset (Mass.) and Olathe East (Kan.) inherit the region No. 1 rankings this week as last week's top-ranked squads lost. The move to the top of the East Region for Christian Brothers will put this senior-heavy team in the SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 title chase.
As usual, the Gateway City Soccer Classic results weigh heavily on the Mid-East and Midwest rankings this week. [Chritian Brothers College mo-m] (Mo.), Glenbrook North (Ill.), Louisville Collegiate (Ky.) and Rockwood Summit (Mo.) all advanced in the rankings after winning bracket titles over the weekend.
GIRLS
Penn (Ind.) is the only new regional No. 1 team this week, retaking the spot that has been vacated by [Germantown Houston tn-m] (Tenn.) following a pair of ties last week. The season started with Penn and Houston 1-2 in the region, and two months later they are back i the same order.
