HS: Successful N.J. coach steps down
After 14 league titles and seven state titles in 16 seasons, Tara Madigan has stepped down as Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.) girls soccer coach.
She confirmed her decision to TopDrawerSoccer on Wednesday afternoon.
Madigan amassed more than 300 wins during her time at Northern Highlands, and for the last decade her teams constantly were ranked among the best fall-playing squads in the country. Northern Highlands went 22-1 this past fall and won a state title, the program's seventh in the last 10 years. The team finished No. 5 in the TopDrawerSoccer FAB 50 behind a group of seniors that went 85-4-4 during their tenture.
Among other team accomplishments under Madigan's leadership, Northern Highlands strung together a state record 65-match win streak starting in 2011 that grew to a state-record 88-match undefeated streak before it ended in 2014.
