Player moves help traditional powers
There were three high school player moves that stand to strengthen already solid teams.
Kori Locksley, who has been part of the US Youth National Team camp, is transferring to McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) from fellow FAB 50-ranked Good Counsel (Olney, Md.), McDonogh coach Harry Canellakis confirmed Thursday.
Locksley, the daughter of the University of Maryland football offensive coordinator and brother of University of Texas football player Kai Locksley, was the leading scorer while helping Maryland United to the ECNL Under-15 national title in 2014. The forward led the team in goals scored in 2015, as well. Locksley played for Good Counsel as a freshman and sophomore, helping the Falcons to a league title last season. She joins a McDonogh squad that is coming off a 15-0 season and SIMA FAB 50 No. 1 ranking in the fall of 2014. Locksley will be teamed up with North Carolina commit Bridgette Andrzejewski.
McDonogh starts the 2015 season as the SIMA FAB 50 No. 3-ranked team.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch confirmed that Indiana commit Alex Palazzolo is returning to play high school soccer at Christian Brothers College mo-m] (St. Louis, Mo.). Palazzolo, a defender, played for CBC as a freshman, helping the team win a state title. The past two years, he played in the Development Academy, but is back with CBC this fall.
The Burlington Free-Press reported Thursday that Essex (Essex, Vt.) standout Ryan Jewell is transfering to Berkshire School (Sheffield, Mass.) Berkshire has been the top-ranked prep school in the TopDrawerSoccer Prep Top 10 the past three seasons. Jewell is an uncommitted defender who is being reclassified as a high school junior this fall.
Byram Hills (Armonk, N.Y.) welcomes back three former Development Academy players this fall, led by forward Jack Beer. Beer scored 25 goals while helping New York SC to an 18-4-3 season in the Development Academy Under-13/14 league a year ago. Brothers Ryan and David Noel also are expected to return to the high school team this fall. The Noels were Development Academy teammates with Beer.
