Region, State HS Rankings: Fall, Final
The 2014 fall high school season came to a close Sunday afternoon when the final state champions were crowned in New Jersey.
Washington Township defeated [Scotch Plains nj-m], and South Plainfield defeated Princeton in the final two New Jersey state finals Sunday, securing all four teams' ranking among the state's elite.
Earlier in the weekend, Northern Highlands and Montclair repeated as New Jersey state champions, sealing their place among the state, region and nation's top teams for 2014. Northern Highlands won its fourth straight state title.
State champions also were crowned in Massachussetts and Washington girls on the final weekend of fall play.
West Springfield and Needham claimed the Massachusetts Division I girls and boys state titles over the week to secure No. 1 state and regional rankings. Both teams finished undefeated.
In Washington, Central Valley repeated as Class 4A grls champion, a result that pushes the team to No. 2 in the final regional rankings.
