Region, State HS Rankings: October 27

Lyrik Fryer and Devan Talley netted the goals as Issaquah (Wash.) defeated Skyline (Wash.) 2-1 in a battle of Washington girls soccer powers, a match that also carried with it the No. 1 ranking in the Northwest region.

Fryer recently was named to the 2nd annual Girls High School All-American Game.

Issaquah is undefeated in Washington, and the win over the rpevious No. 1 team pushes Issaquah to the top of the Northwest in a week where region No. 2 Tualatin (Ore.) also took a loss.

Issaquah's rise to the top marked the only change at No. 1 among the 14 boys and girls high school regions this week.

Around the country, the much-anticipated Northern Highlands (N.J.) vs. Immaculate Heart Academy (N.J.) will become a reality as both won Sunday afternoon contests to face off in the Bergen County Tournament final later this week. Northern highlands is ranked No. 1 in the SIMA FAB 50, with IHA at No. 4. Combined, the teams are 31-0 this year.

Other big movers around the country include several remaining Columbus and Cincinnati girls teams in the Ohio Division I playoffs, after a rash of surprises ousted many of the contenders from Cleveland.

In boys soccer, St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.), Copley (Ohio), McDonogh School (Md.), [Morton il-m] (Ill.), Air Academy (Colo.), [Concord-Carlisle ma-b] (Mass.) and Jesuit (Calif.) remain the regionally ranked No. 1 teams.
