SIMA FAB 50 HS Rankings Update: Oct. 21
The boys and girls SIMA FAB 50 Top 5s have a slightly new look as a pair of previously undefeated national title contenders were down to defeat last week.
A loss by [Delbarton School nj-] (Moorestown, N.J.) boys, the former No. 2 squad, allows Copley (Copley, Ohio) to move up to No. 2, followed by St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.), Martin Luther King (Manhattan, N.Y.) and Jesuit (Carmichael, Calif.). McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) remains No. 1.
Some of the more noticeable moves, Beavercreek (Beavercreek, Ohio), Upper St. Clair (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Chesterton (Chesterton, Ind.) leafrog previously higher ranked teams this week to settle into the Top 10. [Appoquininimink de-m] (Middletown, Del) and Canton (Canton, Mich.) make significant moves upwards following impressive results last week.
On the girls side, former No. 3 Brebeuf Jesuit (Indianapolis, Ind.) had its perfect season ended with a 1-0 loss by fellow Top 25-ranked Carmel (Carmel, Ind.). That result allows two-time defending SIMA FAB 50 champion Maria Carrillo (Santa Rosa, Calif.) to move up to No. 3, followed by Immaculate Heart Academy (Township of Washington, N.J.) and St. Anthony's (Melville, N.Y.).
Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.) remains No. 1 with McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.) pressing the issue following a 5-0 win over formerly ranked Pennington School (Pennington, N.J.) over the weekend.
