Maryland develops players using fun
March 28, 2012
As if training onsite with one of the most successful college coaches in the country wasn’t cool enough, the Maryland Boys Soccer Camp has taken things a step further …
By offering air conditioned dorm rooms.
“It’s a big thing for us this year,” said Maryland coach Sasho Cirovski, who is preparing for the coming camp season that begins in June. “It may not sound like a big factor but sometimes it’s the small things that put players in a position to be successful. And that’s what we strive to accomplish at our camp.”
The Maryland men’s program has accomplished as much as any program over the past decade and has rarely been slowed by opposition - including sweltering Maryland summers.
It’s that kind of excellence that makes Maryland the premier site of boy’s soccer summer camps.
With two-time national champion Cirovski guiding the curriculum, all of the programs offered have been designed to meet the special needs of each individual player based on age and ability.
The main objective is to teach each camp participant how to fully reach his potential as a soccer player by capturing the joy they have for the game.
“The game is supposed to be fun,” Cirovski said. “We want players to be able to enjoy themselves without a coach yelling instructions over their shoulder, or the pressure of performing. We provide an environment they’ll enjoy and remember.”
Cirovski is joined at the camps by his staff as well as Maryland student-athletes that provide a tangible example of a complete soccer player.
With four overnight sessions designed for players of all ages and abilities, the camp opens its fields to a large group of soccer enthusiasts.
