Montverde Academy offers unique experience
The Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy (S.I.M.A) is one of the most unique soccer experiences in the United States for talented youngsters. With former F.C. Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard as its official ambassador and high school program coming off its 4th consecutive undefeated season and 4th national championship in as many years, something different is definitely going on at Montverde Academy – and it only gets better in the month of July.
Just recently announced by S.I.M.A. director Mike Potempa, the program will be opening its doors this summer to the public for a comprehensive residential camp experience from July 10– 13, 2014.
What makes this residential camp so different from the rest you might ask? According to Potempa, the staff will be comprised of only head and associate head coaches from NCAA Division I institutions from around the country in addition to former MLS leading goal scorer and 2001 ESPY Award nominee for 'Best Soccer Player' Mamadou Diallo and former Liverpool F.C. and Senegalese International Salif Diao as professional guests. The camp is open to all interested male soccer players from ages 13 to 16, and will cost only a $5.00 registration fee for the all-inclusive experience.
“The opportunity to be able to work exclusively with Division I Head Coaches and former professional superstars such as Salif Diao and Mamadou Diallo will be invaluable to the development of young soccer players from around the country,” Potempa said. “The mission of the S.I.M.A. program will always be focused on player development and we wanted to offer a unique residential summer camp experience where everyone was welcome and it would be affordable for all.”
The summer camp experience will be held on the campus of Montverde Academy and each camper will reside in the dormitories, utilize the Academy’s world class facilities, with all meals and snacks provided throughout the week. “The camp is open to everyone, but enrollment is limited as the maximum capacity has been set at 50 participants,” Potempa added. “We are slightly different in our approach to player development and I think a camp of this caliber goes a long way in demonstrating our dedication to the growth of the game in this country.”
