Show your worth at Wake Forest
February 24, 2011
Wake Forest University continues its tradition of great soccer by hosting their two summer soccer camps.
The Residential Camp, taking place June 19-22, is a four-day training camp. It will concentrate on a curriculum that is set and taught the same way Wake Forest soccer coaches train their athletes. It will grant players a peek at what the Demon Deacons go through day in and day out, before and during college soccer season.
The camp itself will be a teaching camp, according to Martin. There will be sessions teaching both technical and tactical training in regard to small-sided play.
The Residential Camp is open for ages 10 and up, and is expected to have about 300 participants.
A month later, Wake Forest will host its 48-hour Soccer Academy Showcase Camp. This camp will give players a more physical perspective on how a college session functions at the Division 1 level.
“We bring in 15 college coaches, and in each session you will be taught by a different coach,” Martin explained. “Each player is assigned a team at night, and will end up playing three games in three sessions. There will also be a panel of professional soccer players talking about what it takes to get to that level.”
Unlike the Wake Forest’s Residential Camp, the Showcase Camp will be a high intensity arena to display every aspect of your skills as a soccer player.
The Soccer Academy Showcase Camp will take place July 19-21.

We teach attacking soccer, making them want to the ball,” Wake Forest Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach Ryan Martin said. The camp itself will be a teaching camp, according to Martin.
