Training Sessions at Regis Soccer Academy
As a team sport, soccer can be difficult to practice alone. For this reason, summer camps and training programs can be extremely attractive to athletes. If you haven’t heard of the Regis Soccer Academy (RSA), it is definitely something worth looking up. Located in Denver, Colorado at the Regis University college campus, RSA is a co-ed soccer program that offers summer training sessions focused on developing athletes of various ages and skill levels. RSA is entering its 15th year of existence and it has the advantage of being the only academy in the region with three full grass fields to play on.
Tony McCall, an RSA Director and Head Coach of Men’s Soccer at Regis University, described the programs this way:
“We want players to leave with a better understanding of what it takes to play at the next level,” he said.
Programs such as the ones offered by RSA can be extremely beneficial to athletes seeking to play at the collegiate level because they can practice on a college campus and experience a higher level of competition. If you are extremely competitive or if you just want to see what it is like to live on a college campus for a few days, this experience will be perfect.
The RSA experience, however, will be more than just staying on a college campus. Players attending the RSA training sessions can expect to experience intensive training throughout the day. And with a staff ratio of 9-to-1, the academy ensures that all players receive “the individual coaching attention necessary to maximize player growth.” The RSA website states that “Our goal is for each RSA participant to complete their academy experience feeling exhausted, motivated, confident, and inspired to achieve his or her dreams on and off the pitch.”
At the beginning of summer, RSA will begin offering their training sessions at the Regis University campus. There will be three different training sessions taking place between June and July, including: a single High School/College Prep Session and two Youth Sessions. All sessions have both residential and extended day options depending on whether the player chooses to reside on campus for the duration of the session.
- The High School/College Prep Session is designed for high school student athletes who intend to play soccer at the collegiate level. This session will run from June 25-28.
- The Youth Sessions I and II are for athletes ages 10-13 and are designed to be fun as well as demanding. Both sessions are five days long. Session I runs from June 11-15 and session II runs from July 9-13.
