Wisconsin Camp Ideal for Ambitious Players
Whether you’re a top USA prospect with your sights set on a Division-1 soccer scholarship or if you’re just looking to improve your skills and become a varsity starter, the Wisconsin soccer camps can help you reach your goals. Through the Wisconsin Boys Elite Camp or the Total Striking Academy, you’ll be surrounded by top-level coaches and a bunch of fellow players focused entirely on the sport. As described by Wisconsin head coach John Trask, “We are really looking forward to putting the kids in an enjoyable, safe environment where we can help foster their passion for the game of soccer.”
The Wisconsin Boys Elite Camp is a prototypical soccer learning experience based on the campus of the University of Wisconsin – Madison. With players housed in lakefront dorms and practicing at school practice facilities, they’ll get to see where the sport could possibly take them. Activities even occur within the Wisconsin football stadium! The camp focuses on high-level technical training and also includes a talk about college recruiting. Such knowledge is vital for those interested in playing soccer in college and beyond, preparing young men to become professional athletes on and off the field. However, there’s also some time for fun activities, including a Tuesday night staff All-star game vs. the campers and a camp-wide soccer tennis tournament. These activities help the camp remain fun while also fostering new skills and development for the players.
The Total Striking Academy is exactly what it sounds like: a camp for learning how to score more goals! Held in Steven’s Point, WI the two-day camp is featured in conjunction with Stan Anderson’s Camp Shutout, the largest goalkeeping camp in the world. For the strikers, players are taught everything from technique, to the importance of repetition and even the mental aspects of finishing chances into goals. During the first day the campers are videotaped in action. Later in the day, coaches will individually go over the specifics of a player’s technique with them, offering pointers and advice on their form. Players rarely are offered such keen insight into their shooting skills. During the camp, work is done to improve the players’ striking ability so that they can score more goals for their respective teams.
Both camps are open to boys aged 11-18. While a strong interest in pursuing soccer is imperative, players of varying skill levels are invited. Coaches from multiple divisions of colleges are present assisting with the camps, as are current players from the Wisconsin program. This will provide insight into college soccer as well as potential opportunities for recruitment. Such analysis can also help players get a sense of what type of college program would be the right fit for them. However, the main emphasis of the camps is to learn new skills and play in a harmonious, educational environment, while having a blast at the same time.
So if you’re considering how you’d like to boost your soccer skills this summer, the Wisconsin Soccer Camp is probably the place for you. Players will improve their talents and learn valuable knowledge about college recruiting, all while having fun and making new friends. This is a valuable experience that will be cherished for a lifetime and could be the gateway to your soccer future!
