Young players learn how to succeed in college
April 1, 2011
Welcome to your recruiting edge.
The Villanova men’s summer camp season is almost upon us, bringing with it the vital training and expert tutelage that helps young soccer players move closer to their goals.
Beginning July 24-27, Session I of this overnight event will gather some of the country’s top coaches in Division I, II and III soccer.
The camp is open to ages 6-18 but places a special emphasis on developing the high school aged player who aspires to the college level.

Session II takes place July 27-30 and is instilled with the same in-depth instruction that makes this annual event a can’t-miss opportunity.“This camp addresses things that college athletes know, and hear all the time but high school athletes don’t hear enough,” said Villanova coach Tom Carlin.
Guiding his team in the competitive Big East, one of the top conferences in the country, Carlin, along with his accompanying coaches, share the kind of insight that gives high school players a leg up on their competition.
From tactical work to fitness information, campers will be treated to demonstrations and lectures from some of the brightest minds in the game.
But Villanova’s camps are not simply about soccer. Being immersed in the college atmosphere and surrounded by players and coaches who know what it means to be successful student-athletes serves a much more valuable purpose: it gives players a firsthand feel of what their future could bring.
“We want to help players find the right fit,” Carlin said. “We give them a little bit of everything, in terms of their college options, so they know what works for them and have a better understanding of what direction to move in. All of this helps to give them an edge going forward.”
