Who made the 2013 Top 100 Girls list?

Today we unveil our initial Players To Watch 2013 Girls Top 100 ranking. The list comes out today, but will be updated monthly between now and February of 2013 when these young ladies go through their national signing day for college soccer leters of intent.

This list is the just the beginning. We will continue to monitor players and collect feedback on these rankings and ongoing observations from coaches and other close to the ground who watch these players develop on a regular basis. Our national ranking will be updated monthly, as will the 16 Regional Top 20 rankings that we also feature.

As always, it’s a massive project, so we work to get it right on an ongoing player. If we get something wrong in terms of information, please feel free to let us know at rankings@topdrawersoccer.com If you simply disagree with the rankings, that is going to happen whenever you have subjective evaluation.

Our effort is to seek as many educated opinions as possible and assimilate them into a cogent ranking, but even then there will be differences of opinion. Ultimately the star rating probably carries more weight than the actual ranking.

But people seem to enjoy reading them so we’ll keep making our best effort to have them as accurate as possible. There’s no ID system in our country, including national teams that is so flawless as to compel us to establish the rankings by some rote system. For instance, we don’t say “player X was named to THIS team, therefore they have to be above player Y who was only on this team.” There are just too many dissenting opinions to do it that way. Most select or all-star teams are just one more way to recognize that a player has some special qualities.
