FRISCO, Texas — The 2017 edition of the Generation adidas Cup wrapped up over the weekend, with MLS Academy sides once again testing themselves against overseas club youth teams.
Once again, an international team triumphed in the upper circuit, as River Plate captured the Champions Division. New York City FC did secure silverware in the Premier Division, as the young academy side triumphed.
There were several promising youngsters on display down in Texas from MLS-based teams, even as the results were mixed. Against international opponents, MLS teams were 14-24-7 during the weeklong competition across both division.
