The new MLS NEXT Pro season kicks off this weekend.
While the jury remains out on the quality of the league, and effectiveness of preparation for the next level, the league is adding independent sides and going full steam ahead. It does remain a chance for top players in each MLS team's academy to get the taste of a slightly higher level, particularly before turning pro.
