The TeamRank National Championship is a unique rankings setup that only includes team performance from the current season. It begins with events in August and ends with final events in July, at which point a new competition begins and the slate is again wiped clean. Each ranking is only for that August to July season.
A victory at the CUSA Mead Cup has helped the Michigan Jaguars FC propel itself to the top of U14 Girls table in the Great Lakes TeamRank.
Lauren Yurko and Andrea Kwasniewicz are the backbone of the Jaguars’ defensive third.
Yurko is one of the best goalkeepers in the state of Michigan, continuously rising up to big plays, according to Scobie. Kwasniewicz is a solid center back who rarely makes mistakes, and is fantastic at shutting down opposing forwards.
Meanwhile Samantha Riga, the new forward in the team, has been an athletic scoring machine.
“Lack of depth is not an issue. The kids on my roster, from top to bottom, no matter how much they play, make the most out of their time,” Scobie said.
Other teams leading their rankings on the girls’ side are: U13 Ohio Premier Eagles, U15 Michigan Hawks, U16 Michigan Hawks, U17 Michigan Hawks, and U18 Ohio Premier Eagles.
The boys’ rankings see the U13 Ohio Premier Eagles, U14 Carmel United Soccer Club, U15 Classics Eagles FC, U16 Team Ohio, U17 Javanon, and U18 Cincinnati United Premier, leading the pack.
