Jake Arteaga, Midfielder, LA Galaxy
IMG Academy 150: #16
Class: 2018
Commitment: Portland
The University of Portland has a rich soccer history, which has helped the program attract some top talent to Merlo Field. In the past, the players have typically come from the Pacific Northwest. It’s rare for the West Coast Conference program to pull from talent-rich Southern California, but the tide might be changing.
Jake Arteaga, a standout from Glendora, California, is one of the best players from the Golden State in the class of 2018. On Monday, he gave his verbal commitment to Portland.
“I gave my verbal commitment to Portland mainly because the soccer culture,” Arteaga told TopDrawerSoccer. “The school really supports the soccer team and that was important to me.”
