Boys Commitments: Style points

Jack Gayton, Midfielder, Real Salt Lake-AZ
Class: 2014
Commitment: Louisville
One of the requisites during Jack Gayton’s college search was finding a program that emulated the same style of play as his RSL-AZ club side.
That ultimately led him to make a commitment to Ken Lolla’s Louisville program, where he’ll join the soon-to-be ACC program in the fall.
“When I first got on campus I fell in love, the coaches made me feel welcome,” Gayton told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “I like how they're a possession-oriented team just like RSL. Also, the facilities were the best that I have seen.”
Watching one of Louisville’s training sessions and their emphasis on possession reinforced his desire to make the commitment – not to mention that they had plenty to offer away from soccer.
“I liked that the school has other sports that I can attend, and I thought the school size was perfect,” he said. “It’s a good academic fit for me and they provide all the academic support that an athlete would need.”
Drew Mostoller, Midfielder, North Carolina Fusion
Class: 2014
Commitment: Furman
A defensive-minded center mid, Drew Mostoller was also on the lookout for a college program that values passing and possession.
“A good pass means more to me than a good shot,” Mostoller told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “My technical ability has always been my primary focus when playing and have worked on that a lot. Furman has seen this in me and going there will be a good fit.”
It was more than just the way the team plays that had a large influence on him, as he surveyed the program in its entirety.
“The program has a reputation and a history of being a good soccer team and year in year out they compete,” Mostoller said. “I know that I will develop greatly at Furman and become the best I can be."
Committing to Furman also meant that Mostoller is returning to his roots – almost a homecoming of sorts.
“I was born in Greenville and my mom worked at Furman when I was a young kid so I was on campus frequently,” he said. “Going back to Greenville and to Furman is like going back home for me.”
