Elizabeth Woerner, Forward, Eclipse Select SC
Class: 2015
Commitment: Memphis
A high-scoring forward for both her club and high school teams, Elizabeth Woerner’s recruiting search recently came to an end with her commitment to an America Athletic Conference program.
A possession-oriented player, she hit it off with the squad at her first stop at the school.
“During my very first visit I thought the coaches and players were very welcoming,” Woerner told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “One coach even noting some interesting facts about town in California where I grew up (Petaluma).”
The possession style of the program appealed to her as well. Also giving the Tigers an advantage is the presence of a former Eclipse Select player, Summer Schafer, who helped give Woerner a look behind the scenes of the school.
“She gave me the ins and outs of Memphis and after many visits to other schools Memphis seemed like the right fit,” Woerner explained.
The Chicagoland native also seemed comfortable with the idea of living in Tennessee.
“I felt the size of Memphis was just right not – too big not too small,” she said. “I like the fact that it's a warm weather climate – no snow.”
