The older the Development Academy gets, the deeper its roots dive into the soil of American soccer development.
The MLS SuperDraft was a prime example. In the first round of the 2017 draft, 14 of the 22 players selected joined MLS with ties to the DA. It was the largest percentage in draft history and only served to drive home the point that the DA’s relevance is growing. At 10 years old it still has a long ways to go to reach the heights it wants, but year over year it certainly appears to be on the up-and-up.
With that in mind, today we go on a hunt around the DA for a handful of important news and notes about the state of the league. The 2016-17 season’s burned through half its games. Here’s what we know.
