Dev. Academy Recap: Locked up
The field for Frisco is almost set.
One last full weekend of action in the Development Academy saw the playoff pool draw one step closer to being cemented, as Wildcard spots were locked up.
A few remain up for grabs heading with five more games left on the season, as the regular season schedule will be completed on Saturday, and the playoff draw scheduled for June 17, and competition moving to Texas a week later.
Here’s a look at who helped themselves this past weekend, who didn’t and the division leaders in both age groups:
East Conference
The Red Bulls continued its march to an impressive season with both of its age groups in the Academy with another unbeaten weekend. Facing BW Gottschee on Saturday, a team still holding an outside hope of a Wildcard spot at the U18 age group, the Red Bulls eased to a 4-1 win to dash those dreams. Arun Basuljevic, Vincent Brunetti and Jhon Estama accounted for New York’s offense. The Red Bulls U16s also took care of business with a 2-0 victory.
A pair of less than ideal results may have knocked New England Revolution U16s out of the playoff picture. Needing at least three points from two games over the weekend, the Revolution could only muster one – drawing 0-0 with Seacoast United, and FC Westchester topped the squad by a 1-0 score line on Sunday for the blow which knocks them outside the points per game threshold.

The U18s received a boost from the return of Jordan Morris, who scored a goal and added an assist in a 3-2 win, while the Sounders also won the U16 encounter 3-1.
