In Southern California, Chivas USA U18 stormed out to a 3-0 lead before Arsenal mounted a furious comeback late in the second. Ricardo Hernandez and Miguel Gonzalez both scored for Arsenal in the last 20 minutes, but the road team could not find the tying-goal. Jose Dheming provided two great assists for the winning team, which was shorthanded due to Marco Delgado and Ben Spencer traveling to Portland with the full professional team.
Arsenal U16 won the later game 4-3 thanks to the return of Paul Arriola to the roster. Arriola, who had a goal and two assists in the win, was playing high school soccer for the last few months. He fit in seamlessly in his return, but did leave the game early due to an apparent hamstring injury.
