Pride 97 rout PDA Spurs

After starting the game aggressively, midfielder Julianne Johnston scored a brace as she lead Brentwood Pride 97 to a 3-0 victory over PDA Spurs.

“Julianne had a great weekend after being out with an injury, but I’m glad we got the good result and battled through adversity,” head coach Nir Sveri told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “We believed if we kept the ball and attacked then the other team would not score, and I’m happy to score those goals.”

Johnston’s first goal came in the 30th minute after she was able to capitalize on a dead ball inside the goal box. She would score her second goal in the 73rd minute after her shot proved too much for the goalkeeper to handle, leaving the ball to slide into the net for the insurance goal.

Taylor Brennan doubled the lead for Pride 97 in the 49th minute after her strike from close range skimmed through a wall of defenders.

FC United score late, edging Kings Hammer

Despite a scoreless first half and with the possibility of the game going into overtime, forward Kelly Maday was the catalyst for FC United U16 Girls, as her late winner in the 75th minute gave FC United a 1-0 win over Kings Hammer Academy.

“I thought we saw the best side of defenders all tournament, and the best forwards we have are fast,” head coach Craig Snower told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “Our goalie was terrific all game, she saved that penalty in the first half and I’m proud of the effort the girls put into the game.”

The Hammers had a chance to take an early lead in the 11th minute after a handball was called inside the box. However, it was goalkeeper Danielle Kaufman that kept the game alive after her heroic diving safe denied the Hammers the lead.

Maday would find the net five minutes before the final whistle after she was able to strike a crossed ball, sending it into the bottom left corner of the net for the game winner.
