The Disney Soccer Showcase at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports has come to a close. After four days of roller coaster weather that included fog, rain, sunshine and temperature ranges from 55-82 degrees, the champions were crowned. Here are the top players from the games TopDrawerSoccer saw at the Disney Soccer Showcase.
D Maddy Smieja, Carolina Rapids Burgundy U17 (NC) – Smieja cleared a ball off the line to prevent a goal midway through the second half. Her dominate defensive performance was a big reason her team only fell 1-0.
D Ella Shamburger, Tophat SC Gold U15 (GA) – Shamburger continually cleared the ball out of danger. If opponents were going to take a run, you’d want them trying to trot down Shamburger’s side of the field because she’d probably stop them.
