ECNL Boys Announces Overall Club Champion
The ECNL is excited to announce NTH-NASA (Georgia) has won the 2021-2022 ECNL Boys Overall Club Championship. This honor is awarded to the club that has earned the highest total points from regular-season conference games and performance at the ECNL National Playoffs and Finals. Winning this award requires consistent excellence across all age groups throughout the season.
“You don’t get this far without fantastic support, and that’s something we believe in,” said Ray Tomlin, Boys Director of Coaching at NTH-NASA. “The first thing is the support we get from the parents. They believe in our process, so for them to see us win this award, it shows that their commitment to our club paid off.”
Tomlin also attributed the success of the program and depth of talent to his coaching staff. “The coaching staff is very good, and that’s why the level of talent is really developed inside our club. I have to mention the fact that we have such a big pool of talent because the players in the ECNL RL deserve recognition. Throughout the course of the championships, players were pulled up who stepped in and did well.”
NTH-NASA finished atop the Southeast Conference in four of the six age groups (U13, U14, U15, U18/19), and finished in second place in the remaining two ages (U16 and U17). The club compiled an impressive overall record of 106-12-25, a .741 winning percentage, and averaged 2.39 points per game throughout the regular season. This success resulted in the club qualifying into the ECNL Boys National Playoffs in all six age groups, where their success continued.
In June at the ECNL Boys National Playoffs in San Diego, NTH-NASA finished as national runners-up to Crossfire Premier at the U18/19 age group, while also advancing teams to the ECNL Boys National Finals in the U13 and U15 age groups.
Finishing second in the Overall Club Championship was west coast powerhouse San Diego Surf, who was last year’s Overall Club Champion. San Diego Surf finished first in five of the Southwest Conference age groups and also won the U13 ECNL Boys National Championship.
Crossfire Premier, winners of the U18/19 ECNL Boys National Championship, finished third in the Overall Club Championship. FC Dallas, who sent four teams to the ECNL Boys National Finals, and Pipeline SC, winners of the U17 ECNL Boys National Championship, round out the top five.
“There are so many moving parts and so many people involved in successfully managing a high-performing youth soccer club,” commented ECNL Boys Commissioner Jason Kutney. “These clubs deserve this recognition that has been earned through thousands of hours behind the scenes, oftentimes when no one was looking. The level at which these clubs are operating is impressive and we certainly congratulate everyone involved, from players and parents to coaches, directors, and administrators.”
