Here's a quick rundown of the action:
Game 1: Team 1 vs. Team 2
Three goals from late roster addition Jenny Haskel led Team 1 to a 4-2 victory in a game that featured back-and-forth battles through the action.
Possession was split fairly evenly throughout the game, though there was a step up in familiarity between some of the players, having all competed alongside one another on Saturday.
In the second half, Team 1 moved the ball well along the back line allowing their outside defenders to get into the attack. Sabrina Flores, a Notre Dame commitment, got up into the attack multiple teams to try and add a different look to her team's attack. Towards the end of the half Team 2 started to gain back some possession. The game ended when Kimberly Slade went down with an injury with less than a minute left to play.
Notes:
Jenny Haskel was added to the roster on Friday and she sure did perform Sunday morning. Jenny had three tallies and was the standout performer in this game.
Sabrina Flores played a good game this morning and helped her team out the most in the back line. She got up into the attack often and played well on defense. She was very active getting up and down the field.
Game 2: Team 3 vs. Team 4
Tired legs and the demand of having to play two high level games in two days left its mark on this game. The two sides traded second half goals as the game ended 1-1.
The first half was scoreless but particular players created dangerous opportunities around the net. Rachel Corboz controlled the center of the field throughout the game with her composure. Gabriella Carriero and Marissa Sheva both created shots on net and were constantly active up top. Toward the end of the half both teams seemed tired and weren’t making many runs off the ball.
Once the whistle blew both teams raised the speed of play and seemed a bit more energetic after the break. The score remained 0-0 until the last few minutes of the game. With two minutes left, Team 4 scored what appeared to be the game winner, but with under 10 seconds left to play, Marissa Sheva shot a beautiful ball from outside the corner of the 18 yard box to tie things up.
Notes:
Marissa Sheva did well today and looked to make things happen in the final third, not afraid to shoot. She eventually put one in the back of the net with seconds left in the game.
Gabriella Carriero did well both halves and found the ball at her feet multiple times. She applied great pressure on the opposing team and worked hard off the ball to get into position for her team.
