ECNL Preview: Jumping in headfirst

U14

The top two teams in the Southwest Conference battle on Sunday when Arsenal FC hosts San Diego Surf. Surf leads the pack with a 4-0 record and 10 goals for and 0 against. Mia Fishel has been unstoppable this season with six goals to her name already. Arsenal’s balanced attack is tied for most goals scored in the conference with 22 in six games. Sunday’s meeting could be full of fireworks.

Orlando City jumps back into the fray this weekend with games against Atlanta Fire and GSA. Orlando City sits in first place in the Southeast Conference with a 2-0 record and 0 goals conceded. Madison Lemery headlines the Orlando City attack with three goals already. GSA is also undefeated on the campaign with a 2-0-1 record. Macy Douglas and Ciara Whitely jumped out the gates on fire with three goals each to start the season.

Michigan Hawks put their undefeated record on the line on Saturday when they take on Sockers FC in Naperville. Hawks are 2-0-1 on the season with a plus 10-goal differential. Sockers is looking for some revenge after losing to Hawks 5-0 earlier this season. Lilian Lucas scored twice in that meeting in September.

U15

Colorado Storm and Real Colorado battle for the rights to the Rocky Mountains on Saturday at Dove Valley. Colorado Storm leads the aptly named Colorado Division with a 4-1 record in the U15 age group. Storm needs to find a way to slow down Real Colorado striker Sophia Smith who has seven goals already this season.

West Florida Flames takes on GSA and Atlanta Fire this weekend. The Sunday meeting with Fire is a matchup between the first and third place teams in the Southeast Conference. Fire has only conceded one goal this year as a strong defense has helped the team to a 3-1 record. Flames sit at 2-0 at this early stage of the year.

Solar Chelsea Soccer Club takes on D’Feeters Soccer Club on Sunday in a meeting between the first and second place teams in the Texas Conference. Solar is 6-0-1 on the campaign. Catiana Lychywek leads the charge with five goals and two assists. Taylor Moon is the main weapon for D’Feeters with seven goals and two assists, which accounts for more than half of D’Feeters goals this season.

U16

It’s a battle for the top spot in the Texas Conference on Sunday when Dallas Texans take on TSC Hurricane. The Tulsa side leads the conference with a 6-1 record. The dynamic duo of Parker Goins and Nayeli Perez have accounted for nine goals and seven assists this season. Texans defense has been strong this year on the way to a 5-0-2 record to sit in second in the conference. Goalkeepers Haley Jackson and Melody Jayroe have combined to only allow one goal.

The top spot is also on the line in the Southwest Conference on Sunday when West Coast FC and Slammers FC meet. West Coast is top of the table at this point with a 7-0-1 record. Slammers aren’t far behind with a 3-0-1 record.

The Northwest Conference top spot is up for grabs this weekend too. Conference-leader San Juan Soccer Club hits the road to take on perennial favorite De Anza Force. Kayla Fong leads the De Anza attack with 12 goals in six games.

U17

Eclipse Select puts its perfect record on the line this weekend when Vardar comes to town. Eclipse is 7-0 on the campaign and only conceded three goals. Zoe Redei, Foster Ignoffo, and Alissa Gorzak have combined to score 17 goals this season for the Illinois club.

St. Louis Scott Gallagher Illinois and Sporting Blue Valley battle on Saturday in an important Midwest Conference showdown. Sporting Blue Valley is 3-2-1 on the campaign as it heads into a busy stretch of the season.

U18

GSA against Orlando City on Sunday is a top matchup in the U18 age group. GSA is 3-1 on the season thanks to the three-headed attack of Jennifer Westendorf, Ella Stevens, and Sh’nia Gordon. Orlando City leads the division though with a 2-0 record. Emily Stearns’ one goal and three assists leads the charge for the Florida team.
