ESP Day 2 Coverage - Game 3
February 23, 2009
{mosimage:200}POMONA, CALIF – Match six was the toughest to watch of the first two days here at the adidas ESP for Girls. Not because there weren’t many good players on hand, but because the battling in midfield and the back line kept much attractive soccer from being possible.
In the end it was a looping shot from Riley Houle, playing for Tony DiCicco’s Team 3, that somehow found its way into the net for a 1-0 win over the Carlos Juarez-coached Team 5.
Kaysie Clark of KC Select was one of the more tenacious midfield battlers, working hard to secure possession for her team and challenge the opposition. Tracy Hong looked good running with the ball and Cate Parchinski continues as one of the top prospects in her 2011 graduating class. Parchinski, from Pride Predators in Colorado, is a strong target forward with surprisingly good feet.
Megan Marsack looked good for the 2nd straight match at outside back. She is fast, marks and tackles well and can get involved in the attack. The Michigan Gators player has gone a long way toward establishing herself in the top tier of her class. Southern California’s Caitlin Dickman was a late add-on to the camp but has shown with her speed and tenacity in defense that she definitely belongs.
