POMONA, CALIF - Riley Houle closed out her outstanding performance at the adidas ESP for Girls with a bang Sunday, scoring a pair of goals as her team took a 3-0 victory over Team 1 in the “championship” match, the final game of this year’s event here.

Playing for Tony Di Cicco’s Team 3, Houle scored just before halftime with a 30-yard free kick that hit the underside of the crossbar and landed behind the goalline. The Oakwood SC player’s goal on the other side of the break was from open play, as she was allowed to run into space and hit another hard strike from about 25 yards and it again flew under the crossbar to make it 2-0.

The final goal for Team 3 came after a good cross from Lexington FC’s Arin Gilliland found Pleasanton Rage winger Tracy Hong at the far post. Her header was well-saved by Team 1 goalkeeper Darcy  Hargadon, but Cate Parchinski was on hand to knock home the rebound for the final 3-0 scoreline.

Team 3 left back Abigail Lutzenkirchen of North Atlanta Soccer showed good technique, precise passing and was good in the air. Marie Mackenzie continued an excellent camp from her right back position, with good skill on the ball and creativity in getting involved in the attack, while Amy Kauffung continued her good defensive play in the center. Dallas Texans’ midfielder Clarissa Wedemeyer was good in central midfield as she had been the previous night in the all-star game.

For Thori Bryan’s Team 1, West Coast FC’s Gabriela Iribarne continued to impress on the left and only a very good save from Sara Voigt kept Iribarne from adding to her goal tally with a well-taken free kick. Satara Murray closed down well in the back line and Chivas USA’s Amber Hernandez showed a propensity for striking a ball with power and accuracy.
