ESPY winner among Team of Month honorees
Here is the Players To Watch Team of the Month in July for the Florida Region.
Remember, this feature is to honor top performers in their region over the past month or so and across the span of age groups. There will be a boys' list and a girls' list, and a new region will be covered every weekday, Tuesday through Friday of each month. You can submit nominations at teamofthemonth@topdrawersoccer.com .

Following is the Girls List, in no particular order:
Morgan Brian, Ponte Vedra 92/93 Storm (FL), U18, Midfielder: Ponte Vedra Soccer Club, U.S. U20 National Team, and incoming Virginia(w) freshman Morgan Brian, capped off her stellar youth career at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles where she accepted the Gatorade Athlete of the Year award.
Taylor Valentine, Ponte Vedra 94/95 Storm (FL), U16, Midfielder/Forward: Taylor, captain of the Ponte Vedra 94/95 Storm was recently selected to Region III ODP team and was the leading scorer at Southern Regional’s. Taylor put her skill on display scoring a hat trick in the last game of pool play at Southern Regional’s.
Ali Jenkins, Ponte Vedra 94/95 Storm (FL), U16, Defender: Central defender Ali is the anchor of the Ponte Vedra 94/95 Storm defense. She is a versatile athlete that can take the ball out of the back to initiate the attack. The Storm counts on Ali to shut down the opposition’s best offensive player.
Rasha Roberts, CFK Krush 96 Black (FL), U15, Center Midfielder: Rasha (2014) is CFK Krush 96 Black’s center midfield leads the team in assists and excels in controlling the tempo of the game.
Lauren Green, CFK Krush 96 Black (FL), U15, Forward: Lauren (2014) is a prolific goal scorer for the CFK Krush 96 Black girls squad. She scored 30 goals this season making her the team’s top scorer.
Molly Gradl, CFK Krush 96 Black (FL), U15, Defender: The Krush 96 Black’s central defender Molly (2014) is a key member of the defensive line. Molly is selfless, a no-nonsense defender and a team player.
Lindsay Preston, CFK Krush 96 Black (FL), U15, Goalkeeper: Lindsay (2014) controls her area and by doing that, she gives her defenders confidence. She has great skill and is impressive in the air and on the ground.
Julia Moore, Coral Springs United/Renegades SC Lady Renegades 93/94 (FL), U17, Midfielder/Forward: The Lady Renegades are led in the midfield by the versatile Julia Moore who can cover midfield, forward, and attacking left back. During recent play this talented, high speed athlete created many scoring opportunities and notched several key assists.
Mandy Freeman, Coral Springs United/Renegades SC Lady Renegades 93/94 (FL), U17, Defender: Mandy, a defender for the USA-U-17 National Team, is tireless, fast and often described as one of the most composed center defenders in her age group in the U.S. She excels at 1v1 taking on and shutting down multiple attacking players with ease and a confidence well beyond her years.
Jasmine Paterson, Coral Springs United/Renegades SC Lady Renegades 93/94 (FL), U17, Forward: The Lady Renegades are a tenacious talented group who season included capturing the Florida State Cup and the U17 White Division of the PDA College Showcase. Their offensive effort this season was led by goal scorer Jasmine Patterson. Jasmine is very creative with ball and eager to take shots and set up her team mates for opportunities.
Nikki Zamora, Coral Springs United/Renegades SC Lady Renegades 93/94 (FL), U17, Midfielder: Nikki, the Lady Renegades defensive midfielder, is a high energy midfielder with great ball skills. Athletic and versatile Nikki stepped up in game three of the hard fought Southern Regional’s to cover the goal for the Lady Renegades.
Kristina Shakes, Coral Springs United/Renegades SC Lady Renegades 93/94 (FL), U17, Midfielder: Tina, the Lady Renegades center midfielder, is the leader of the midfield for her team. She possesses great vision, excellent ball distribution and technical skill. During the Lady Renegade’s recent play, Tina won majority of balls in center of the pitch and initiated the attack for the Lady Renegades.
Following is the Boys list, in no particular order:
Felipe Oliveira, Florida Rush Soccer U17 (FL), Forward/Mid: Felipe is a creative forward/attacking midfielder. He was an indirect catalyst in setting up a portion of the 14 goals scored - including an exceptional performance in the 5-0 win over Cobb FC Premier (GA) - during the Florida Rush U17B's run to win the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Championship. Felipe excels in 1 v 1 situations, excels with the ball at his feet and has an uncanny ability to get in behind the defense and make things happen.
Mateo Correa, Coral Springs United F.C. 95/96 (FL), U15, Midfielder: Mateo, a Florida State ODP and Region 3 ODP Pool member, is the attacking midfielder and playmaker for the ’96 Coral Spring United F.C. He is creative with the ball, possesses great field vision and brings South American flair to the offense’s passing game. Mateo is a rising sophomore at North Broward Prep.
Pablo Penahererra, Coral Springs United F.C. 95/96 (FL), U15, Midfielder: Pablo, a ’97, has been playing up for three years with the Coral Springs United F.C. 95/96 squad. His is a natural left footed outside midfielder with a great work rate, great skill crossing the ball and set piece specialist. Pablo is a rising freshman at North Broward Prep and a member of the ’97 Florida State ODP Team.
Jordan Austin, Coral Springs United F.C. 95/96 (FL), U15, Goalkeeper: Jordan, goalkeeper for the 95/96 squad possesses excellent reaction time, great technique and leadership in the back. He has made it to the final selections for ODP State team the past two years and is one of Coral Springs United F.C.’s top keepers. Jordan is a rising junior and will start at keeper for North Broward Prep in the fall.
Nicolas Souberville, West Pines United F.C. 94/95 Black (FL), U16, Midfielder: “Nico” (2013) has an exceptional skill level along with the ability to control the tempo of the game. His passing, and shooting skills with both left and right feet have drawn the interest of both college and international coaches.
Andres Payne, West Pines United F.C. 94/95 Black (FL), U16, Defender: Andres (2013) is an ideal offensive player always moving with the ball toward the final third looking for the goal. He is gifted with natural speed and is often the focus of opposing team’s defensive game plan.
Oluwatomiwa Kosoko, West Pines United F.C. 94/95 Black (FL), U16, Midfielder/Forward/Defense: “Tommy” (2012) is a complete player and exceptional athlete able to play any position, for West Pines. Tommy excels at offense, defense, and midfield making him the most versatile player on the pitch.
Owen McCorckle, West Pines United F.C. 94/95 Black (FL), U16, Defender: Owen (2013) controls the back line giving his team a great defensive assurance. With his fierce speed, natural skills and tactical knowledge, Owen has become a defender that no forward wants to contend against.
Marcos Jay Arroyo, CFK Kraze 96 Black (FL), U15, Center Midfielder: Marcos (2014) is a key player on the team playing holding center midfield. He leads the team in assist and controls the tempo of the game. Marcos’ ball skills and his ability to defend keep opponents off their rhythm making it hard for them to establish their game.
Rohan A. (R.J.) Roberts, CFK Kraze 96 Black (FL), U15, Defender: “R.J.” (2014) is a key player to the defensive end of the team. His speed, quick decision making and ball control, creates a big problem for opponents trying to attack. His ability to move forward with the ball adds to his team’s offensive attack.
Alexander Blout, CFK Kraze 96 Black (FL), U15, Defender: Alex (2014) is the CFK Kraze 96 Black’s outside defender. His speed, quick decision making, ball control creates a big problem for opponents. His ability find players and pass the ball with poise and precision keeps opponents away from his team’s side of the field. Alex was named the CFK Club Player of the Year for the 2010-2011season.
Phillip Jagger Lieb, CFK Kraze 96 Black (FL), U15, Forward: Jagger is the CFK Kraze 96 Black’s top goal scorer. This season, Jagger kept opponents on their heels trying to keep up with his physical strength, speed and ability to finish on goal.
Samuel Vinson, West Pines United F.C. 95/96 Premier Black, U15, Defender/Midfielder: Samuel (2014) is a varsity soccer squad member and honors student at American Heritage School of Plantation Florida. Primarily playing left full back for the West Pines United 95/96 Black, he is an ODP Florida State Team and 2011 ODP Regional Pool member known for his speed and strength. A skilled and physical player, strong in the air who always gets into the attack and is a danger coming out of the back.
Austin Sandel, West Pines United F.C. 95/96 Premier Black, U15, Defender: Austin, a 6’2” central defender is a member of the ODP Florida State Team in 2010 and 2011 and the 2010 ODP Regional Pool. Currently an honors student and varsity soccer team member at Lawton Charles High School in Tallahassee Florida, Austin (2014) is a physical presence in the back, tenacious defender and strong in the air.
Walker Dawkins, West Pines United F.C. 95/96 Premier Black, U15, Central Midfielder: Walter (2014) is a student American Heritage School of Delray Florida and a member of his school’s Varsity Soccer Squad. Walker is energetic, skilled with the ball, strong in the air and a play maker. He is a member of the US Soccer U15 National Pool.
Bryan Gonzalez, West Pines United F.C. 95/96 Premier Black, U15, Forward: Bryan (2013) is an honors student attending Everglades High School in Miramar, Florida. The West Pines 95/96 Black’s team captain, Bryan is a right forward most recognized for his level headedness, creativity and speed on the field. He is skilled with the ball and shoots with both feet, a good header of the ball as well.
